Coffee, Train Rides, and RUM TASTING!

So if you all can't tell, my family and I love playing tourist around our island. It's a lot of fun to experience everything our visitors get to, but at Kama'aina rates (discounted prices). So this weekend daddy went out fishing on the boat so grandma and I decided to take Sophia to Kilohana.
Kaua'i Sweet Shoppe
First we stopped by Kaua'i Sweet Shoppe it's a cute tiny hole in the wall type of place with lots of sweets. Everything from candies to coffee and everything in between. They have these Oreo brownies that are TO DIE FOR! It is the most dense amazingly delicious brownies I have ever tasted in my life! I am quite the brownie coinsure! I have my sister-in-law bring some home every few days! It is the best thing with some hazelnut coffee! If you're ever passing through or in town please stop by and see her (Stephy) and get some delicious Brownies and coffee!!!

Here is little Miss in heaven with all the Salt Water Taffy!!! Maui Made!

Kilohana Train Rides
After fueling up on coffee and sweets we headed over to the train station...
**FYI Kama'aina, it's $10 for adults and $6 for children (3-12) on Sunday's I strongly encourage all Kama'aina to take advantage of all that is offered to us! You get to learn about the history of the 'Aina you inhabit! **
here is bunny all settled in her seat on the train

here she is with her ticket ready to board the train!

giving her ticket to the tour guide

she was a little nervous-you can tell she looks pretty tense here. lol

While on the train we got to see the fruit orchard they have. Mostly everything at Kilohana is fresh farm to table. Its a beautiful farm with many varieties of fruits and local plants. I would recommend this trip to anyone, visitor and local. It's an educating tour, I learned a lot of the history and about my cultures, since a lot of Portuguese worked at the sugar mills ;)
You also get to stop off and feed animals! Here are a few photos:

Koloa Rum Tasting
Now I really wanted to do the FREE rum tasting at Koloa Rum on Sunday when we went to Kilohana but Keiki aren't allowed in the tasting room and I didn't want to go in alone so I patiently waited till Tuesday when I could take my sister-in-law with me. It was a lot of fun. I got really excited because a good friend of mine was hosting the session we went to, her name is Jabrielle! She is such a blast, loud, fun local girl ;)
She had us make our own little tiny Mai Tai's

We got to try 4 different kinds of rum. The Dark rum, Light rum, Spiced rum, and Coconut rum.
I am a huge Malibu drinker! I love Malibu and coke with a hint of lime! But after tasting this coconut rum I am definitely buying Koloa Rum! It's distilled twice to remove impurities and make you feel better the next day ;) You'll get all that info when you do your tasting! It's a lot of fun and really delicious. Now because I am a weak sauce I left feeling very happy and a little dizzy! Haha! But all of that rum definitely tasted like high school! LOL! It tasted like late night bonfires drinking Bacardi or any type of alcohol we could get our hands on! HAHA!

loot at that beautiful happy smile!!! Seriously, go visit her you won't regret it! She's very memorable!

This was overall such a wonderful experience at Kilohana all together! The only thing I didn't like was that it ended and you can only attend the rum tasting once a day! Haha!

If anyone does this or has done this comment your experience below! I love hearing from ya'll!

Much love and Aloha,

XObre
